Sheila Kelly
Executive Committee President

Sheila Emerson Kelly, MA, is one of the founding members of WVAPP, and this is her second tour of duty as Association President. She has been a licensed psychologist since 1982 and has been employed in a wide variety of settings including state hospital, community mental health, private practice, governmental service, advocacy through the WV Supreme Court and insurance. She is also a past President of the WV Psychological Association and the WV Behavioral Health Providers Association. Currently she is employed as the Behavioral Health Consultant for The Health Plan, a managed care and insurance company headquartered in Wheeling, with offices in Charleston and Morgantown. She resides in the Huntington area with her husband and furry canine daughter.

Dr. Tammy Corbett-Alderman

Dr. Tammy Corbett-Alderman is a licensed psychologist with twenty plus years of experience. She is married with three children. Dr. Alderman has lived in the Cabell County area since she first enrolled at Marshall University in 1988. She has earned her bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees in Psychology from Marshall University. She has extensive experience with a variety of populations providing both psychological assessment and psychotherapy. She has served as a community volunteer in both her church and local youth sports programs. She is devoted to improving the emotional wellbeing and quality of life of people in the tri-state area. Dr. Alderman is especially skilled with depression and anxiety disorders, as well as sexual offender and safety risk assessments. She is a BHHF approved forensic evaluator. She also serves as an instructor at Marshall University and President of West Virginia Association of Professional Psychologists. 

Michelle McCord

Michelle McCord is a licensed psychologist with a BA and MA  in Psychology from Marshall University. She is married with two sons. Michelle has worked for many years with troubled youth and has extensive knowledge of placement options and long-term treatment facilities. She is skilled in Parental Fitness evaluations and is an approved Waiver evaluator. Michelle provides Parent-Child Interaction Therapy for children ages 2-7 and their parents. She also serves on the West Virginia Association of Professional Psychologists executive committee and the WV Child Abuse and Neglect committee . 

Dr. Conrae Lucas-Adkins

Dr. Conrae Lucas-Adkins is a licensed school psychologist and assistant professor of school psychology in the College of Education and Professional Development at Marshall University.  Her current research interests include investigating the long term effects of neonatal abstinence syndrome and early adverse experiences on the cognitive, behavioral, and emotional development of children and building supports within the schools to promote the success of all students.


Katie Tharp

Katie Tharp, licensed psychologist and secretary of WVAPP. I am the owner of the private practice Horizon Psychological Services, PLLC in Beckley, WV. At my practice I serve clients by providing diagnostic evaluations and therapy services. I provide contractual services for mental hygiene certifications and am an adjunct professor with WVU Institute of Technology. My educational background includes BA in psychology and BA in sociology from Concord University, a MA in clinical psychology from Marshall University, and more recently a PhD in the cognition and instruction of psychology from Grand Canyon University. I enjoy hiking, running, painting, and reading novels. The greatest joy and blessing of my life is being the mother of 3 amazing young women!
